Already placed an order and need to claim your rebate?
When you submit your order for contact lenses online at OzContacts, you will be forwarded through a digital receipt of purchase to the email associated with your OzContacts account. If you don't have access to your email, you can alternatively log in to your Account.
This order invoice contains all of the information required to claim your health fund rebate, including:
- OzContacts' Health Fund Provider Number (a 7-9 digit number/letter sequence unique to your health fund);
- Item Number for the contact lenses you have purchased;
- OzContacts' ABN (Australian Business Number); and
- OzContacts' Registered Australian address
How much will I be able to claim back from my private health fund?
Everyone's coverage will be different, but generally speaking, most private health fund members with appropriate optical extras coverage are allocated between $150-$200 per annum* to claim back against optical-related expenses. We would recommend getting in touch with your individual health fund to ascertain your exact entitlements for prescription contact lenses before placing your order, and to ensure that you are utilising the full value of your policy.
* Any eligible entitlement amounts will vary between funds, different policies within funds, and based on the date of purchase, and are subject to your policy's waiting periods, annual limits and having the appropriate level of extras or essentials cover for optical-related claims.
What about contact lens solutions and eye drops? Can I claim these back, too?
You will generally not be able to claim a health fund rebate against your purchase of contact lens solution or eye drops, as most health funds will only cover for corrective contact lens products themselves. All of our orders are itemised so as to avoid any confusion when claiming your rebate.
Will my healthfund rebate cover the shipping of my contact lens order?
You will generally not be able to claim the shipping component of your online contact lens order back from your health fund, as your private health insurer will usually only rebate the item number corresponding to the contact lenses listed on your invoice.
I don’t have private health insurance at the moment. Do you recommend any particular health fund?
Unfortunately we are not able to recommend a private health insurer for you, as there are a number of individual factors and preferences which will determine what the ‘best’ fund would be for you overall. To help in your research though, we very strongly recommend consulting the Australian government’s PrivateHealth.gov.au website where you can get a full list of private health insurance providers in Australia.
Beware of some other comparison websites online, as they often do not present a comprehensive list of health funds.
